2017 Greater Washington Innovation Awards

Back in March, we attended the Greater Washington Innovation Awards showcase, hosted by the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce. As a nominee for the Hospitality, Tourism & Entertainment Innovator of the Year, we had the opportunity to present our IoT beverage dispensing solution to a panel of industry experts and host a display booth among an impressive group of innovators.
This past Thursday, the awards took place at Hamilton Live in downtown DC. The March showcase and April awards show have been called “the premier events celebrating the thought leadership, innovation and creativity of the individuals and organizations in select industries in the Greater Washington metro area,” and we can see why. Categories included Health & Life Sciences Innovator of the Year, Hospitality, Tourism & Entertainment Innovator of the Year, Marketing & Advertising Innovator of the Year, Professional Service Innovator of the Year, Public Service Innovator of the Year, Technology Innovator of the Year for Emerging Businesses, and Technology Innovator of the Year for Mature Businesses.
We’re excited to announce that we won two awards! The panel of judges selected Sestra as the Hospitality, Tourism & Entertainment Innovator of the Year from amongst finalists including D.C. United, EventBank, Hilton McLean Tyson’s Corner and MomentSnap. In addition, every person who had attended the March showcase was able to vote for their favorite innovator out of all the nominees from all categories. At the end of the night, Sestra was also named winner of this special Business Choice Innovator of the Year award.
The night itself was treated as half networking event and half awards show, with plenty of time between announcements to get to know your neighbors. NBC4 Anchor Leon Harris took to the stage as well, interviewing the winners as they were announced.
We are honored to be among this group.
